Mediasite deliveries webcasts with synched slides. This high-end webcasting tool utilizes it’s own Mediasite server and encoder. It’s a costly tool but it simplifies the webcasting process. In many educational institutions, companies, and organizations this type of streaming tool would be useful. There’s a need to have live streaming events where viewers can watch a webcast and see video of the presenter as well as their PowerPoint slides. Sonic Foundry’s Mediasite tool provides this capability and many other features. With this streaming delivery option users can track webcast viewers, moderate questions, poll the audience, and even control who has access to view content. It’s a a great option for on-line teaching and training if you have a large budget. I’ll elaborate on more Mediasite features during my next blog post, so stay tuned.

You can call for Streaming consulting if you’d like to learn more about Mediasite and if it would work for your organization and projects. Contact Freeman Compression Inc. at 407.477.5837 to get consulting on Mediasite. You can also e-mail us at info@freemancompression.com.

Wowza Live Stream Repeater Improves Webcasting

Wowza Live Stream Repeater improves webcasting for events, conferences, church services or other activities. One of the benefits of implementing Live Stream Repeater is you can repeat a Live Stream that comes from a Wowza Server. Normally you would have to send the same Live Stream to each Wowza Media Server you would like to use. With a tool such as Wirecast you can send multiple Live Streams to the different streaming servers you decide to utilize. Unfortunately, this does not make for a good workflow in many scenarios because of upload bandwidth limitations at hotels, conference locations, churches and other places. With this in mind, you can send one Live Stream to your Wowza Media Server and then repeat the Live Stream using Live Stream Repeater on each server that you would like to have to play Live stream. Attend one of our Advanced 1 1/2 Day Wowza Media Server Training to learn the process of setting up Live Stream Repeater.

Give us a call about signing up to attend our Advanced 1 1/2 Day Wowza Media Server  Training, which discusses Live Stream Repeater. Streaming church services with Wirecast is a great option for delivering Live Streaming to church members, pastors and other individuals. Many times people need to tune in to church services while on vacation, out of town, when they can make it to church or when they just want to view events from home. Media Departments for churches can purchase Wirecast Live Encoding software to make things easier in providing Live Streaming of all their events and church services. What’s great about Wirecast is that the software works similar to a video production switcher in software. You can easily switch between multiple cameras, videos and other sources. There are also several options for using lower thirds or titles in webcasts. An excellent streaming feature about Wirecast is it can work with many different streaming protocols such as RTMP, RTSP or MMS. In addition, it works well if you’re delivering streams with a streaming server that supports mobile devices, Android devices and those that support iOS devices. If you’re looking for a Live Encoder then this is a great tool to have in your media production kit.

ESPN3 provides Live Streaming of professional sporting events. With streaming video becoming so popular ESPN has defiinitely taken notice and sees the large amount of interest in watching on-line sporting events.  The launch of ESPN3 is meeting the need of viewers wanting to watch Live Streaming on the favorite sports.   “The on-line viewing experience appears to be one of the best I’ve personally seen on the Web,” says Derrick Freeman, Instructor and Video Streaming and Compression Consultant for Freeman Compression Inc.  ESPN3 is a video streaming portal that allows viewing of Live Streaming and Replays with Live Chat and Stats.  For the Live Streaming you can watch one sporting event at full screen or up to four Live Streaming events in Mosaic View.  There is even a Picture-N-Picture view that you can use.

Recently, I had a chance to watch a few games from the NBA Playoffs and the experience is exceptional.  The quality setting can be adjusted manually or automatically to utilize the available bandwidth of the on-line viewer.  If you haven’t had a chance to check out ESPN3’s Live Streaming make sure you take it for a test spin.
