On-site consulting and training holds many benefits. For many organizations that need to get video streaming services up and running this is a perfect solution. Overall you save on the cost of having multiple staff members trained. Also, empowering more individuals allows many to share in the workload. Recently, Freeman Compression Inc. provided On-site consulting and training to an organization in Nevada. Prior to the On-site we created a Video Streaming Portal that supported Live Webcasts as well as On-demand Streaming with a Playlist and thumbnails with text.
On Day 1 we upgraded their Wowza Media Server Pro to Wowza Media Server 2 and installed applications for On-demand Streaming, Live Streaming, and Recording Live Streams. In addition, we made sure the Live Streaming was working properly with their workflow which used S-video and Composite video out of their cameras into their Dazzle converter. Freeman Compression Inc. created the presets that would be used for Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and saved them for future reference. The rest of the day was spent making sure their video streaming operation was ready to go.
For Day 2 we provided training to 8 attendees. Each attendee shared a workstation with their colleague. We provided hands-on instruction for Video Streaming, Compression, Wowza Media Server 2, Adobe Flash Live Encoder, and Dreamweaver for Authoring streaming web pages. Attendees learned how to configure regular Live Streaming as well as Live Stream Recording using Wowza Media Server. They learned how to update their web pages for On-demand Streaming with playlists and for Live Webcasting. Attendees also learned how to perform Batch Encoding and Watch Folder Encoding with Sorenson Squeeze. This was so that they could manage their Encoding Workstation that we set up with encoding presets and compression filters for Flash Encoding. Lastly, we provided a working example of how to restream RTSP IP Cameras or RTSP URLs and taught them how to use it. The goal for our training day was making sure the organization could manage the video streaming operation after the training was complete. We accomplished that. One of of the attendees commented during the training session”This is pretty easy to do”. That’s what Freeman Compression Inc. likes to hear. It let’s us know that we accomplished our job successfully, transferring the necessary information to our students.
Overall, the reason for creating their specific streaming workflows was to simplify the management of their video streaming operation and reduce the workload for their staff. The organization’s video streaming provides Live Streaming capabilities with server side Live Stream Recording. Video content will be made available after Live Webcasts as on-demand streams with minimal web authoring. Videos that need to be encoded will be dropped into a folder on the Encoding Workstation and automatically encoded with Sorenson Squeeze. After encoding videos will be automatically uploaded via the Squeeze FTP for on-demand viewing on Wowza Media Server.
It gives Freeman Compression Inc. great joy to empower organizations to successfully manage their video streaming operations.
