LifeSize Communications Chooses Wowza for Video Streaming Solution

Wowza Media Systems, the media server company, announced that LifeSize Communications, a division of Logitech, has licensed the Wowza Media Server 2 software to support the delivery of streaming video via LifeSize Video Center.

Organizations are increasingly using video communications to share knowledge and communicate critical information. The unified streaming capabilities of Wowza Media Server 2 provide an effective solution to broadly extend the high definition video experience to desktop and mobile participants.

Class Summary:

The 1-Day Amazon EC2 Wowza Server Training teaches Flash On-demand and Live Streaming set-up and other items associated with streaming on a Amazon EC2 Wowza instance . This class covers the video formats supported on the Amazon EC2 Wowza Server and what tools can be used for encoding.  Learning to stream Live Flash video using Telestream’s Wirecast with the Amazon EC2 Wowza Server is a special topic covered  in this training class. Students will also learn how to author web pages for Flash Streaming and how to take advantage of the cross-platform, cross-browser video playback support that Flash supports.

Class Overview

1. Streaming Server Set-up

Your instructor will walk you through set-up of the Amazon EC2 Wowza Server for Flash real-time streaming. This section of the class will cover install, port configuration and test procedures to make sure the Amazon EC2 Wowza instance is functioning properly.

2. Wowza Media Server Overview

This portion of class provides students with an overview of how the Wowz Media Server works.  In this training module the instructor teaches students about: Application.xml files, Vhost.xml files, Modules, Properties, Stream Types, AddOnPackages, HTTP Streamers, Live Streaming Packetizers and Content Storage.

3. Application Setup

This portion of the training teaches students how to utilize the available applications on the Wowza Media Server and how to customize their own applications for streaming.  The hands-on instruction shared in this portion of the training allows attendees to successfully navigate and use Wowza Media Server 2.

4. Configuring On-demand Streaming

In this section of training, students will learn to set-up on-demand streaming for On2VP6 and H.264 content. Students will learn where to place on-demand videos the Amazon EC2 Wowza Server and how to reference on-demand streaming folders.

5. Configuring Live Streaming

This training module will cover the procedure for setting up live streaming on the Amazon EC2 Wowza Server. Students will learn all of the necessary configurations required for getting live streaming to work on the Amazon EC2 Wowza Server. This section of the class will teach students how to set-up live streaming using Wirecast and Flash Media Live Encoder.

6. Authentication for Live Streaming

In this training module students will learn how to create an application for Live Streaming that requires Authentication from the Live Encoder.  This protects who can stream to your Wowza Media Server. In addition to creating your application, you will learn how to add users who have Live Streaming privileges.

7. Video Formats Supported on Amazon EC2 Wowza Server

This portion of the class will teach you about the video formats that are supported on the Amazon EC2 Wowza Server.  This training module will help you make sure you’re delivering the right video content from your Streaming Server.

8. Tools for Encoding Videos for Amazon EC2 Wowza Server

Learn about the tools you’ll use for encoding video content for your Amazon EC2 Wowza Server. This part of the training will teach you about valuable free compression tools as well as compression tools that have a licensing fee associated with their use.

9. Authoring Flash On-Demand Streaming Videos and Live Streaming Videos in Web pages

This portion of the training will teach students how to create web pages for Flash streaming videos. Many Video Editors and Multimedia professionals can encode their videos to the Flash video format, but don’t understand how to author their web pages to deliver Flash streaming videos. This class will teach you how. Students will learn how to author web pages for both Live Streaming and On-demand Streaming using the Amazon EC2 Wowza Server.

10. Analyzing Wowza Media Server 2 Log files with Sawmill Professional

Students will learn how to analyze log files from Wowza Media Server Pro. Also, learn where to locate the log files on Wowza Media Server Pro. In addition, class participants will learn how to gather information from log files such as: domain names, session paths, most popular videos viewed, most popular viewing days, most popular viewing months, video playback errors, viewer demographics and other information.

11. Streaming to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

One of the features of Wowza Media Server 2 is that it allows video content providers the ability to delivery On-demand and Live Streams to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.  This class will show you how to configure your Wowza Media Server for streaming to the iPhone. The class covers set-up of both On-demand and Live Streaming to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Looping Video Playlists Possible With JW Player and Wowza Media Server

Looping video playlists are possible with JW Player and Wowza Media Server.  With the JW Player you can refer to the videos in your playlist that sit on your Wowza Media Server.  You can set the video playlist to autoplay and repeat the playback of your videos.  The videos that playback in your looping video playlist  can be either in the Flash .FLV, F4V flavor or as H.264 .mp4, .M4v video files.  Both JW Player and Wowza have some amazing capabilities and the ‘looping video playlists’ is another one to add to the list.
