Podcasting is a simple option for delivering videos.  For organizations that need to deliver web video and video to the Video iPod, iPhone, and iPod Touch, Podcasting is a wise option to consider.  When you have a Podcast your videos will be available on both Mac, PC, and any device that can play Podcasts with iTunes.  Once your subscribers are connected to your Podcast they’ll automatically get your latest video updates based on their iTunes Preference settings.  Here’s what makes it easy once your Podcast is up and running.  To add a new video you only need to add the link to the video URL in a new blog post.  This is simplistic for those that have a workflow created to encode videos and then upload them directly to their server.

If you’d like to implement a Video Podcast or Audio Podcast for your organization give Freeman Compression Inc. a call at 407-477-5837 or E-mail us at info@freemancompression.com.  We can provide you with consulting services for the Podcast set-up then train you and your staff on how to use it.

“A key factor in the web’s success is that its core technologies are open and freely implementable. Video is fundamental to the web experience, and developers and content publishers need an open video format option,” said Mike Jazayeri, Group Product Manager at Google. “We are excited Grab Networks is joining a broad coalition of industry leaders supporting the WebM project to bring a new era of open innovation in web video.”

“Avalon with VP8 automates media packaging for on-line distribution to YouTube.” said Jim Duval, Director of Product Management at Anystream.  “Avalon eliminates the complexity of manually assembling and validating media, metadata, graphics and other media elements that are required by YouTube and other digital media distribution outlets.”

Agility 2G automates and streamlines content production and delivery for television, web and mobile media applications.  In a single workflow, Avalon assembles and validates commercial metadata that is seen in the promotions and displays on video portals, electronic storefronts and electronic program guides.  Avalon also converts media into the specified formats and packages the content with the metadata into media products that conform to all of the delivery requirements.

Shipment of Agility 2G with VP8 will begin in the second half of 2010.

Sorenson Media announced that its Sorenson Spark video decoder has been licensed by Lenovo to be included in the new Lenovo Skylight smartbook. Sorenson Spark will enable the innovative mobile consumer device to play the widest selection of videos available on the Internet.

Sorenson Media’s Sorenson Spark decoder was the first codec used in Macromedia Flash, now Adobe Flash, today’s de facto standard for Web video. Sorenson Spark is the industry’s most ubiquitous video decoder and enables the playback of hundreds of millions of videos on the Internet, including many of those on YouTube.

Announced in January 2010 and available in April 2010, the Lenovo Skylight harnesses the best of smartphones and netbooks to create a new device that boasts a sleek and slim design, all day battery life, robust wireless connectivity and custom interface with live Web gadgets. The optimized Sorenson Spark decoder is available on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon™ chipset, which gives the Skylight its powerful combination of mobile processing performance, optimized power consumption, connectivity and powerful multimedia capabilities.

“The Sorenson Spark decoder completes the Lenovo Skylight’s multimedia package,” said Peter Gaucher, executive director of the Mobile Internet Products Idea Product Group at Lenovo. “By including this ubiquitous decoder, we will be able to enhance the full experience of the Skylight users by giving them full access to millions of videos on the Internet that can only be played back using the Sorenson Spark decoder.”

“We are excited to be working with Lenovo, a proven leader in the mobile computing industry,” said Douglas Cebik, director of business development of Sorenson Media. “Web video is a must-have in every new mobile device, and we’re pleased that Lenovo’s unique Skylight smartbook device will now have access to the full world of Internet video.”

Internap Provides High-Performance Content Delivery Network for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival

Internap Network Services Corporation, a global provider of end-to-end Internet business solutions, announced that it is an Official Provider of Content Delivery Network (CDN) services for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, January 21-31 in Park City, Utah. Sundance Institute is using Internap’s CDN – both during the Festival and on an ongoing basis – to simplify and streamline the creation, delivery and management of interactive web content that promotes the event itself and the work of independent filmmakers year-round, with guaranteed optimal quality and performance.

New forms of web content, such as podcasts, slideshows and streaming video, have become critical to the independent film community, allowing filmmakers to market and distribute their films to audiences worldwide at minimal cost. In 2009, visitors to the Sundance Film Festival website downloaded nearly three million videos; and in the months surrounding the annual Sundance Film Festival, website traffic typically surges dramatically, averaging between 50,000 – 150,000 unique visitors daily.

However, as online video gains in popularity, the performance of the network is also becoming a top priority, with viewers showing little tolerance for slow-loading video. A recent study by analytics firm TubeMogul found that 81.2% of web video viewers click away when videos are slow to load and that “rebuffering” occurs in nearly one out of every 25 streams. Internap’s CDN uniquely addresses this issue, ensuring an optimized video viewing experience through its patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer™ (MIRO) technology, which selects the best path for video traffic in real time, based on network performance characteristics instead of the least number of Internet hops.

“Our collaboration with Internap has grown to such an extent that we could not provide high-quality online content without them,” said Joseph Beyer, associate director at Sundance Institute Online. “Internap’s CDN allows us to easily create and share streaming video and other new types of content – an increasingly vital part of building awareness of our artists and bringing their work to a global audience – while ensuring a consistently reliable viewing experience, even during the dramatic spike in web traffic that occurs during the Sundance Film Festival.”

Internap’s CDN provides a complete solution for live and on-demand video streaming with “set and forget” capabilities that allow organizations to focus exclusively on content creation by simplifying and streamlining the workflow for content uploading, transcoding, management and reporting. Integration with the Adobe Flash Platform, Microsoft Silverligh and iPhone formats, Internap allows customers to maximize the consuming audience by addressing the broadest range of devices across the Internet.

Sorenson Media today announced that its Sorenson Spark video decoder has been licensed by Qualcomm for chipsets targeted at the next generation of high-performance, low-power and multimedia-rich mobile phones, mobile computing devices, and other consumer products. The Sorenson Spark video codec will enable devices to play a wide variety of videos available on the Internet.

Sorenson Media’s Sorenson Spark decoder was the first codec used in Macromedia Flash, now Adobe Flash, today’s de facto standard for Web video. Sorenson Spark is the industry’s most ubiquitous video decoder and enables the playback of hundreds of millions of videos on the Internet. For example, YouTube, which is the single largest online video destination site today, utilizes Sorenson Spark.

“As mobile multimedia expectations continue to grow, we remain committed to offering our customers innovative solutions that enable a next-generation experience,” said Jason Bremner, senior director of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. “Sorenson Spark will enhance our product portfolio with comprehensive video capabilities, enriching the Internet video experience for mobile users.”

“One of the most productive features of these powerful new mobile multimedia form factors is their ability to take full advantage of Web video,” said Peter Csathy, CEO of Sorenson Media. “We are thrilled to be providing Qualcomm with Sorenson Spark to raise the bar for mobile multimedia possibilities and enjoyment.”
