Using Wowza Media Server 2 for Creating Channels will become more popular once organizations understand the capabilities for scheduling programming.  With Wowza you can have your own channel On-line and you can program it for both Live Streaming and On-demand Streaming. Here a three scenarios to give you a better grasp of the capabilities of Wowza Media Server 2.

Day 1

Let’s say for Day 1 you have 24 one hour videos that you would like to program into your Channel.  You can schedule programming for the entire day and choose one of your 24 videos to play at the top of each hour.

Day 2

For Day 2 you can set your channel playback up differently.  You can choose to have a playlist that has 8 videos of 30 minutes each to play in a order at 4 hour intervals throughout the day .  You can have your channel start at 6am and end at 6am.  Your first series of videos would start playing at 6am then a new series of videos would start at 10am, 2pm, 6pm, 10pm, 2am and end at 6am.

Day 3

For Day 3 you could take things up a notch.  You could decide to include both Live Streaming and On-demand Streaming in your channel. You could start your channel at 6am  but at every top of the hour alternate between On-demand and Live Streams.  In this scenario you can program each On-demand stream to play for 1 hour and each Live Stream to play for 1 hour.  At the top of the hour the programming would always switch to a Live or On-demand stream.
